What makes this study notable?

  1. The unit of analysis is schoolwide grade-level cluster performance growth – the high stakes accountability metric. E.g.: how did 3rd grade grow in percent of students meeting math standards in program-using schools, vs similar schools not using the program?
  2. State assessments are normalized via z-scores, enabling comparison across different assessments
  3. Because state schoolwide performance data is universally available, all new program-adopting schools cohorts, regardless of ‘n’ within state, are subject to study
